On this day I married my bestfriend . . . the one I laugh with, live for, love.
Let's start from the beginning shall we?
As I'm sitting here, starting a blog to document my very blissful life, I thought it would be rather confusing if I start my story with me being pregnant. So let me start from the very beginning. . .
" I can't believe you speak better English than I do!" Those were Bill's first words. Had he said this in a condescending way, he would've had a taste of his cellphone rammed down his throat. But suprises of surprises, he was weirdly funny. His remarks were innocent and you would think that he was innately sincere. Thank God for common interests, we both played guitar. So I think that was what held it together.
Now that I think about it, I wonder how we managed to converse about music, laundry, work, being sick, more laundry and more work, for 8 months. We were on the phone almost everyday, just talking about the most mundane things. I guess that's how good friendships start. You like talking about nothing and those nothings mean something to you. Weird. I know.
I have to admit I was a bit nervous meeting Bill for dinner for the first time. I kept on reminding myself that he was a good friend. It was nerve wracking the first ten minutes, I couldn't get past the fact that he wore a cheezy hat. Then when we started talking, everything just shifted back into place. Yep, we were definitely buddies.
I think when two people just click together you kinda get into that "what if" mode, where you start wondering if you can take it to the next level. Well, Bill did a lot of what ifs. And after what seems to be the longest courtship in our family history, he finally got to hold my pinky while walking. Let's just say that made his day.
So, we fell in love, he asked for my hand (Had a hard time telling my father. His buttocks felt like it was clenched the whole time) and had a long engagement.
After months of planning and arguing with my mom, the wedding went on without a glitch. It was beautiful, very memorable and so much fun. Bill said it was the most beautiful wedding he has ever been to. It would've been great if he was just standing on the sidelines and watched and ate the good food without having to smile the whole time.
And now, after our share of growing pains, we are now officially 1 year, 2 months, 11 days married and counting. Cool huh?
